Working with Maid First was fantastic. Extremely helpful, polite and did a great job. Being a partying student, my apartment was a complete mess!

I used my first Maid First House Cleaning Service  on January 9th for the first time for a move in. Our old maid service moved out of New York, and we were not able to find a reliable help since then.

I have tried a lot of cleaning services in my area but I have found it to be the best cleaning service. I moved to my apartment 3 years ago and for the most part I was cleaning it by myself.

New Yorkers Are Busy. Your Home Shouldn't Pay For It.

You work long hours. You commute. You cook, you parent, you show up for everyone else. And somewhere between all of that, the apartment got away from you. The bathroom needs scrubbing. The kitchen counters are a project. The floors haven't been mopped since you can't remember when.

You keep telling yourself you'll get to it this weekend. Then the weekend comes and goes.

That's not a personal failing. That's just life in New York City.

The Hidden Toll a Messy Home Takes on New York Families

Person in lavender top at a kitchen sink, washing hands beside a stainless-steel basin.

That's exactly why Maid First exists.

Here's the thing though - a dirty home doesn't just look bad. It weighs on you. You feel it the moment you walk through the door after a long day. The clutter. The dust. The sense that something is always unfinished. It's the kind of stress that sits in the background and never fully goes away.

We show up so you don't have to think about it anymore. We take the scrubbing, the mopping, the wiping, and the vacuuming completely off your plate. You come home to a clean apartment - fresh floors, spotless bathrooms, a kitchen that actually looks like a kitchen - and you didn't have to lift a finger.

No stress. No guilt. No endless to-do list sitting on the counter.

Just a clean home in Manhattan, Brooklyn, or Queens, waiting for you at the end of the day.

What's your mess?

Life in New York doesn't slow down - and cleaning your apartment shouldn't have to slow you down either. Maid First is a local house cleaning service helping New Yorkers from the Upper West Side to Park Slope get spotless homes without lifting a finger. No corporate chains. Just reliable cleaners who actually show up, actually clean, and actually care.

They were able to dispatch a team out quickly and we were able to go to a nice dinner and return home to a fresh, clean home. Everything looked and smelled so nice. They arrived on time and apparently worked very efficiently to get the job done quickly.

I needed a professional company that was quick and efficient and this company far exceeded my expectations!  The professionals arrived on time, were very polite and were speedy considering how much cleaning there needed to be done!

They did a good job. Actually, they did a great job.

I don't know if I can ask for the same 2 people but if they are any indication of the quality of all their workers then I should be fine when I have them do it all over again next month!

I had Maid First clean the apartment I have rented for my New York visit. I was impressed with their house cleaning skills. The apartment looked and smelled fresh. Very affordable prices compared to other maid service provider in Manhattan.

Sound Familiar?

You keep telling yourself you'll do a deep clean this weekend. But then the weekend comes, and honestly — you're exhausted. The dishes pile up. The bathroom gets gross. The kitchen floor hasn't been mopped since… you'd rather not say.

And then there's the guilt. You walk past the dusty baseboards every morning. You avoid inviting people over because the place isn't "guest ready." You spend Sunday night cleaning instead of resting — and still feel like you didn't do enough.

Tired of Coming Home to a Messy Apartment?

That's Exactly Why Maid First Exists

We started Maid First because we kept hearing the same thing from New Yorkers: "I just want to come home to a clean apartment and not have to think about it."
So we built a house cleaning service around that exact feeling. You book online or by phone, we show up at the time you pick, we clean everything — and you come home to a place that feels like a hotel. Without the tiny shampoo bottles.
Our cleaners are background-checked, trained, and have been doing this long enough to know what New York apartments actually need. They know the tight spaces of a Hell's Kitchen studio. They know the older grout in a pre-war Brooklyn apartment. They know the dust that collects behind radiators.
This isn't generic cleaning. It's New York cleaning. Call us: (212) 920-7872 Or book online at maidfirst.com

You stop avoiding your kitchen. You start inviting friends over again. Your Sunday nights are yours again. You sleep better in a room that doesn't smell like dust. Your kids have a safe, clean space to play.

They made this moving process so much easier on me because it was one less thing that I really had to worry about- and this was a big deal of my stress when I was moving because of the condition of this apartment- I could have never sold it the way it was looking before I had it cleaned.

The best cleaning my house has ever seen. I feel spoiled! The best part is that it doesn't cost very much and I came home to our baseboards cleaned-- which I never even noticed. Very thorough!

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common inquiries about Maid First House Cleaning Service in New York City.

  • New York gets really humid in the summer. Does that affect cleaning, especially for mold or mildew?

Great question and a real NYC issue. Summers here are brutal for bathroom mildew and kitchen moisture buildup — especially in ground-floor apartments or older buildings with poor ventilation. Our summer cleanings pay extra attention to grout, caulk lines, and areas behind appliances where moisture hides. If you're seeing early signs of mildew, tell us when you book and we'll address it directly.
  • I'm moving out of my New York City apartment. What exactly does your move-out cleaning cover? My landlord is really strict.

We know how strict NYC landlords can be, especially in Manhattan and prime Brooklyn neighborhoods. Our move-out cleaning covers inside the oven, inside the fridge, inside all cabinets and drawers, bathroom scrubbing (including grout and behind the toilet), baseboards, window sills and tracks, closet floors, and light switches and outlet covers. We've helped hundreds of tenants across the city get their full deposit back. Book 2–3 days before key handover so you have time to do a walkthrough.
  • Do I need to be home during the cleaning?

Most of our regular clients in New York are not home during their cleaning. They leave a key, a lockbox code, or arrange building access ahead of time. All of our cleaners are background-checked. If you'd feel more comfortable being home your first visit, that's completely fine too — lots of people do that to start.
  • How does pricing work for a house cleaning service in New York? Is it hourly or flat rate?

We do flat-rate pricing based on the size of your apartment and the type of cleaning. We don't charge by the hour, which means your cleaner isn't watching the clock — they're focused on actually finishing the job right. You'll always know the price before we start. Call (212) 920-7872 for a free quote.
  • I've had bad experiences with other cleaning services in New York City. What makes Maid First different?

We hear this a lot. The most common complaints we hear about other services are: the cleaner didn't show up, the quality was inconsistent, or they missed obvious stuff every time. We address all three — we confirm every appointment, we have a quality checklist for every clean, and if something isn't right, we come back and fix it. We're also local. We're not a franchise with a 1-800 number. You can actually reach us.
  • Do you serve all five boroughs, or just Manhattan?

We clean — Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. If you're not sure whether we come to your area, just call (212) 920-7872 and we'll tell you in about 30 seconds.

  • I live in a building with a doorman. Is that going to be a problem for scheduling a house cleaning service in New York?

Not at all — we deal with doorman buildings all the time, especially on the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, and Downtown Manhattan. Just let us know your building's policy for service workers when you book. Some buildings require a copy of our insurance or ask cleaners to use the service entrance, and we handle all of that regularly.
  • How far in advance do I need to book a cleaning service in New York City?

For regular cleanings, 48–72 hours notice is usually enough. For deep cleans, move-out cleanings, or move-in cleanings, we recommend booking 4–7 days ahead — especially if you want a weekend slot. New York weekends fill up fast, particularly in spring and fall when people are moving.
  • My apartment is a pre-war building with original tile and hardwood floors. Do you know how to clean those without damaging them?

Yes, and this comes up a lot in neighborhoods like the West Village, Harlem, Park Slope, and Astoria. Pre-war materials need different products — you don't want harsh chemicals on original hardwood or old grout. We use gentler, surface-appropriate cleaners and our team is trained on what works for older New York apartments. If you have specific concerns, mention it when you book.
  • Is your cleaning service in New York safe for pets and kids?

Yes. We offer pet-friendly cleaning with products that are non-toxic and low-odor, safe for dogs, cats, and children. A lot of our clients in family neighborhoods like Ditmas Park, Forest Hills, and Riverdale specifically ask for this. Just let us know when you book and we'll make sure your cleaner brings the right supplies.
